Nationalist rally prevented in Moscow

Police have closed the Manezhnaya Square in the center of Moscow where
security measures were taken due to rumours of possible disorders, RIA
Novosti
reports.

Leader of the outlawed organization Slavyanskiy Soyuz (Slav Union)
Dmitry Demushkin was arrested.

Approximately 50 people were arrested.

The Moscow City Court announced the Slavyanskiy Soyuz organization an
extremist organization on April 27, 2010. The prosecution said that
the organization violated human rights and freedom. Demushkin said
that he will appeal the court's decision.

Manezhnaya Square saw mass civil disorders on December 11, 2010. The
protests were augmented by the death of Yegor Sviridov, a fan of the
Spartak football club. The police released the people involved in the
fight with Sviridov. The Main Police Department of Moscow says that
the stirrers-up of the fight were not football fans.
