Four arrested in customs bribery probe in Istanbul

Four suspects were arrested Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of bribery and corruption centered at Istanbul’s customs houses, Hurriyet reports.

Forty-seven suspects were taken into custody on Tuesday.

Forty-five of the suspects were sent to court with a request for arrest, while two suspects were released.

The court arrested Istanbul Customs House chief Lütfi Ekinci and three other customs personnel on charges of "giving and taking bribes" and "violating the Anti-Smuggling Law."

The arrested suspects were taken to Paşakapısı Prison; the remaining 41 suspects were released pending trial.
