Azerbaijan and Russia have signed an agreement in Baku on cooperation
in combating illicit trafficking in narcotics, psychotropic substances
and their precursors.
"The traffic of new synthetic drugs passes through Azerbaijan, and our
agreement is designed to develop a mechanism to respond to the new
versions of drugs," the head of the Federal Drug Control Service of
Russia said.
“The problem of our countries is that Afghanistan is a place for
production of a phenomenal amount of drugs. For Azerbaijan, the
biggest problem is cannabis, which is brought into the country via
Iran. We intend to further intensify cooperation with Iran in solving
this problem,” the official added.
