Azerbaijani people are in solidary with the Turkish people due to the
attack on the humanitarian ships in the Mediterranean Sea, leading to
deaths of civilians, Azerbaijani President Ilkham Aliyev said in
Istanbul on Tuesday, AzerTag reports.
Aliyev is participating in the third summit of the Conference on
Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICMA) that
started in Istanbul today. He expressed gratitude to the Turkish
President Abdullah Gul for the welcome and the well-organized summit.
He also thanked the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev for the
efforts to turn the summit into an international forum.
Aliyev noted that security in Asia is an integral part of world
security. He said that consolidating efforts against terrorism is the
main basic step towards success. At the same time regional cooperation
and economic growth, according to Aliyev, will contribute to security
in the region.
He noted these energy projects are examples of regional cooperation.
Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is contributing to restoring the
'Silkroad', a railroad project connecting Asia and Europe.
