The Russian State Duma did not approve the proposal of the deputies of
the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), urging the Russian
government to take measures to provide security for Russian tourists
abroad. In particular, the LDPR recommended Russians not to visit
Turkey, RIA Novosti reports.
At the beginning of the tourist season on May 25th, a bus with 39
Russian tourists fell off a bridge into the River Aksa from a height
of 15m, killing 14 people and injuring 26.
The deputies requested the government to develop a legal basis for
excluding tour operators from the federal registry for violating
Russian law, to sign an agreement on cooperation between the federal
agency of tourism and the Russian Foreign Ministry and to develop a
legal mechanism of cooperating with diplomatic offices and consulates
of Russia in providing help to Russian tourists facing difficulties.
