An explosion in Grozny killed 1 and injured 10 people. 5 policemen
were injured. According to a source from the local police, the
explosion happened at 18:00 Moscow time, near the concert hall on
Theatre Square. There was to be a concert by a well-known Russian
performer, Valid Dagayev, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the press-secretary of Chechen president Alvi Kerimov,
speaking to the radio station ‘Echo Moskvi’, a high-scale terrorist
attack had been prevented in Grozny. A young man blew himself up near
two UAZ police cars, after police officers tried arresting him.
According to preliminary data, his name is Adam Khamidov, born in
1988.
The terrorist managed to approach a well-protected territory by
showing his passport to the police on request.
