Abdullah Gül, the president of Turkey, has arrived in Kazakhstan on a 4-day official visit. Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Kazakh president, met him at the airport, KAzTag reports.
The Turkish president is to visit the city of Turkestan, where he will make a speech before the professors and students of the Kazakh-Turkish Yassawi University. He will visit the mausoleum of Hoji Ahmet Yassawi. Then he will meet with representatives of the diaspora of Meskhetian Turks.
On the second day, official talks and a business forum will be held. The Turkish embassy will be officially opened in Astana.
Meetings are planned for the third day between Turkey and authorities and deputies from Central Asia in general, TRT reports. President Gül has said that Central Asia is a very important region for Turkey and that more attention should be payed to its countries.
