The third summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will be held in Istanbul on June 8th, our reporter cites the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
The summit is taking place outside of Kazakhstan for the first time, an official delegation of the Kazakh presidency will arrive in Turkey.
The new leadership in the organization will provide additional impulse for consolidating the international authority of the conference. Turkey has chosen to make building cooperative security in Asia its
priority.
Some internal documents and a political declaration are to be signed during the summit, and a plan for the collective fight against the drug trade will be discussed with the leadership of Iran. New heads of the secretariate will be appointed and the budget for 2011 will be passed.
A special session "Security and Economic Cooperation in Eurasia in the XXI Century" will be held for the group of Asian partners of the OSCE (Australia, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Japan).
A trilateral meeting of the prime ministers of Russia and Turkey with the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, will also take place. The Karabakh situation will be discussed.Finally, the gas agreement between Azerbaijan and Turkey is expected to be signed. Gas prices for Turkey, the price for transit through Turkish territory to Europe and the volume of gas delivered to Turkey after the opening of the Shakh-Deniz field will be determined in the document.
