President Serzh Sargsyan met on Monday with the Archbishop of Cyprus,
Chrysostomos II, as part of his visit to Cyprus, News-Armenia reports,
citing the press service of the Armenian leader.
According to a press release, during the meeting the sides touched
upon the centuries-old friendship between Armenia Cyprus, the
similarity in the historical destinies of the two nations, as well as
the role and importance of the Church for the Armenian and Cypriot
peoples in the preservation of cultural and national identities in the
circumstances of loss of statehood.
Sargsyan and Archbishop Chrysostomos also discussed the fate of the
Armenian community in Cyprus, which, thanks to the authorities and the
Church of Cyprus, has successfully integrated into the society of the
country, while preserving its national identity.
