Approximately six earthquakes have been registered in Georgia after a
major earthquake 17 km away from the north-east of the center of the
Vani District (West Georgia), which started on Wednesday at 13.17, an
official of the Earth Studies Institute of the Tbilisi State
University of Ilia told News Georgia.
Director of the institute Zurab Javakhishvili said that two
earthquakes equivalent to 3.5 points on the Richer scale were
registered on Thursday 03.29 and 09.44. Earthquakes in the region are
common, although such a powerful earthquake has not been registered
before.
There were no injuries or damage to buildings.
