Azerbaijani, Russian, Armenian religious leaders meet in Baku The religious heads of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia will hold a trilateral meeting today on the sidelines of an international summit of religious leaders in Baku.
It is expected that the religious leaders will discuss the influence of the globalization of religious values, the fight against extremism and other issues. Following the talks, a special memorandum will be signed on April 27. The summit’s opening ceremony was held in Gulistan Palace this morning. More than 100 religious figures from different countries gathered in Baku to participate.
President Ilham Aliyev addressed to the summit participants. He said the summit was of great importance.
The day will come when Baku will become the capital of European Culture,” he said. “There are more than one thousand mosques, 11 churches, and 6 synagogues in our country," he said.
