Every 792 out of 1000 children under 15 and older have a higher or
secondary education in Azerbaijan.
The State Statistics Service says that 108,000 children, or 15.9% of
children aged 1-5 years, study in 1,624 state and 11 private
pre-school education centers, according to the information on January
1, 2011. 97% of pre-school education centers are part of the Ministry
of Education, 22% of them are in Baku.
1.3 million students studied in 4,515 state and 17 non-state education
centers in 2010/2011.
The number of students studying in second and third schools is
dropping. The indicator in cities dropped from 23.2% to 21.4%, and in
rural areas it dropped from 18.5% to 17.5%, APA reports.
The number of students in 2010/2011 exceeded 47,000. Over 75 state
lyceums and gymnasiums are operating.
