President of Georgia not against construction of mosques

By refusing the construction of mosques in Georgia, we deny the right
of hundreds of thousands of Muslims living in Georgia the right to be
citizens of the country, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said
today in a live broadcast on the PIK TV channel, Trend reports.

According to him, this is not only a religious issue, as part of the
Georgian population are Muslims and they cannot be denied the right to
observe their religious traditions.

The president said that there is “nothing wrong” in the agreement with
the Turkish side to build several mosques in response to the
reconstruction of Georgian churches launched in Turkey.
