Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visited the Okhotny Ryad station in
the Moscow Metro on Thursday, where he inspected the security systems
underground.
Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu briefed the President on
the establishment of an integrated system of public safety in
transport. A presidential decree on the establishment of such a system
was signed in March 2010, after a terrorist attack in the Moscow
subway.
At the Okhotny Ryad station, the president was able to examine
personally a separate public notification complex and a block for
individual monitoring of suspicious individuals, as well as
radiation-monitoring and explosives-detection systems.
