Georgian prosecutors have prevented the illegal sale and export of a
painting belonging to well-known artist Niko Pirosmani
(Pirosmanashvili). The painting is called a "A rooster and a hen with
chicks", Georgian deputy chief prosecutor David Sakvarelidze said, RIA
Novosti reports.
The deputy prosecutor of Tbilisi Vakhtang Iashvili said that the
painting was saved from export by one of the people involved in the
case, who cooperated with the police.
Ketevan Ignatov, assistant of the minister of culture and memorial
protection, noted that studies of the painting say that it belongs to
Pirosmani.
