Russia stops winter time switchover

30 years after the introduction of the transition to daylight
 saving time, Russia has decided to waive this practice. Starting from autumn 2011, Russians will not turn their clocks back for one
hour, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said today, RIA Novosti
reports.

The president noted that the need to adapt is associated with stress
and disease and that the abolition of such a transition would be
useful.

A transition to daylight saving time exists in many countries. In
Russia, the transition to winter time usually takes place on the last
Sunday in October. Daylight saving time transition takes place on the
last Sunday of March.
