The highest unemployment rate in Russia at the beginning of 2011 was
registered in Ingushetia (48.8%) and Chechnya (43.3%), while the
lowest were in Moscow (1.1%) and St. Petersburg (2.2% ). The data was
prepared by the expert group of the Russian President, RIA Novosti
reports.
The document shows that the economically active population in Russia
at the beginning of 2011 amounts to 75 million people (more than 53%
of the population) and has decreased by 407 thousand people (0.5%)
since 2010.
The number of unemployed, calculated by the methodology of the
International Labour Organization, has declined from 6.2 million in
early 2010 to 5.4 million at the beginning of 2011.
