Taxi drivers protest in Tbilisi

A rally organized by taxi drivers is taking place on Rose Square in Tbilisi, Georgia. There are a few dozen people gathered in the area. The protesters demand the revision of the results of a tender competition announced by the Mayor's Office. According to the results, all the taxi business in Tbilisi will be concentrated in the hands of a Sharangiya, a mayor’s friend and a friend of President Mikheil Saakashvili ,Georgia Online reports.

According to one of the leaders of the Conservative Party Lasha Chkhartishvili, most of the taxi drivers will be unemployed in about six months, because they were forbidden to work in their own cars.
