National Counter-Terrorism Committee prevented 90 terrorist attacks in 2010

The Russian National Counter-Terrorism Committee prevented 93 terrorist attacks in 2010, the deputy head of the committee’s office, Yevgeny Potapov, said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, RIA Novosti reports.


He recalled that the police found two bombs equivalent to 10 kg of TNT in the Dagestani section of the North Caucasian railway. A clockwork bomb equivalent to some 20 kg of TNT was found in the village of Sulak in Kizilurt District.


A bomb equivalent to 7 kg of TNT was found near a nursery in Kizilurt. The bomb was activated using a remote control. No one was injured. A car with a dead man with explosives was found near a café in Stavropol in September. The two bombs in the car were equivalent to 90 kg of TNT.


A similar car was found in Khasavyurt with 70 kg of explosives and projectiles.


Potapov said that the blasts in the Mosow subway, the central market of Vladikavkaz, the Dalny military range in Buynaksk, the beach of Makhachkala, the café Hermitage in Pyatigorsk, the culture and sports center of Stavropol, the Irganay and Baksan dams and other facilities were solved.
