Moscow will hold a mass meeting of Muslim religious and public leaders on March 24 for the first time since the October Revolution. The All-Russian Muslim Council is entitled “Russia – our common home”.
The council is a response of the Muslim community in Russia to increasing xenophobia and Islamophobia in the country. The council is organized at a time that belief that Islam and Muslims play a destructive role in Russia is spreading.
The organizers of the council are calling for consolidation of the Muslim clergy and public to face new challenges as one of their main goals. They will search for new efficient models of achieving multi-confessional and multi-ethnic peace and harmony in Russia, as well as more involvement in the modernization and development of the country.
Another goal is depolitization of religion in the country. This is especially topical at a time when religion is increasing its influence on the political life of the country.
Heads of Russian Muslim organizations, Muslim public figures, scientists, figures of culture and members of the Expert Council of the Russian Muslim Union were invited to take part in the meeting.
Heads and representatives of traditional confessions, authorities of related ministries and the Russian Federal Council, the Presidential Administration, leaders and officials of public and political unions have also been invited.
The All-Russian Muslim Council will be an historic event in Russia.
It starts at 11.00 am.
Address: Tverskaya Street, 3-5, conference hall of The Ritz-Carlton Moscow Hotel.
