Wind in eastern Georgia blow roofs off and breaks power lines

Heavy wind has blown roofs off houses and blown down trees in the Dedoplistskaro district (Kakheti Region), there have been no injuries, RIA Novosti cites Levan Bagashvili, chairman of the local urban autonomy.


Power lines were also broken, leaving Dedoplistskaro district without electricity, as well as Sagaredzho, Gurjaani, Signagi and Telavi, Zhana Didebashvili, the head of the PR service of the energy distribution company Energodistribution said.


25,000 consumers were left without electricity. Wind speeds are hitting 20-25 meters per second, conditions that are expected to continue into tomorrow.
