The heads of the CIS member-states have released a joint statement in honour of the 65th anniversary of Victory Day, reports ITAR-TASS, citing the Kremlin's press office.
"The people of the USSR and its armed forces defended the independence of their Motherland and freed many counties from fascist enslavement," the statement read.
"Our people showed selflessness and heroism, patriotism and internationalism...history had never witness such determination," the statement added.
"Addressing the nations of the CIS member-states and the entire international community, we thank all veterans," it also said.
