New synagogue opens in Baku

A new synagogue has been opened in Baku, replacing the old one, Trend cites Semen Ikhiilov, head of the Mountain Jew community in Azerbaijan, as saying.


The old synagogue was in a building built a century ago.


Ikhiilov expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people.


Foreign ambassadors, Chairman of the State Committee for Religious Structures Idayat Orudzhev and officials of religious confessions in Azerbaijan attended the opening.
