Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin rewarded 27
veterans of the Great Patriotic War in Azerbaijan with the medals “65
years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War”, RIA Novosti reports.
“We know about the contribution of the Azerbaijani people to our
common victory. 600 thousand Azerbaijanians went to fight, 200
thousand did not return, 121 became heroes of the USSR. We know about
the contribution of oil-rich Baku. We are glad that Azerbaijan is
celebrating the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic
War at state level”, - the diplomat said.
According to Dorokhin, such events have become possible due to the
decision of the Council of heads of CIS countries.
