Several suspected subway terrorists detained in Belarus

Several people suspected of the terrorist attack on the Minsk subway have been detained, Belarusian Deputy Prosecutor General Andrey Shved, supervisor of the investigation group, told journalists.


The bomb at the subway was improvised, and most likely radio controlled, Belarusian Minister of the Interior Anatoly Kuleshov said on Tuesday.


The exact type of explosive device will be defined in assistance with the Russian specialists who will arrive on Tuesday evening.


The minister said that the bomb was filled with nails and metal particles.


The main investigation activities at Octyabrskaya station are expected to end within 2-3 hours.


Kuleshov said that videos made by monitoring cameras and bloggers were taken for observation.


The blast at Octyabskaya subway station in Minsk happened on Monday evening. 12 people died and 157 were injured, 26 of them are in grave condition. Three Russians are among the injured. An Azerbaijani citizen Roman Gurban oglu Karakhanov was also injured, Trend cites the official spokesman of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elkhan Polukhov, informed by the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belarus Ali Nagiyev.

Karakhanov is a Russian citizen from Georgia, born in 1990. He is in normal condition and will be discharged tomorrow, Polukhov said.


An Armenian citizen Saakyan Samvel Erikovich was injured, press-secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan told News Armenia.


Saakyan has hearing problems.


Georgian citizens were not injured, the Georgian embassy in Belarus said.
