Islamic finances discussed in Moscow

Moscow has held the Third Round Table on the World Islamic Economic Forum today. It is a continuation of the round tables in Bahrain and Istanbul organized earlier this year. Today’s meeting was organized with the participation of the Malaysian Halal-Industry Corporation.

The Secretary General of the WIEF, Tan Seri Ahmad Fuzi Haji Abdul Razaka, noted that the forum is being held in the CIS region for the first time. Russia and the CIS region demonstrate an increase in halal production and banking and demonstrate financial growth. The next forum in Astana on June 7-9 is expected to have more delegates.

The director of the Economic Department of the Russian Mufti Council, Madina Kalimullina, noted the potential of the Russian halal market. Every tenth citizen in Russia is Muslim. However, the main consumers of halal products are young people. Non-Muslim citizens may consume them as high quality products.

Another important complex of problems concerns theoretical aspects of Islamic economic and financial systems. The Director General of the Ash-Shams Capital Company, Adalet Jabiyev, said that the new Islamic economic system needs to replace the current paradigm, which can be characterized by inequality and the exploitation of the world financial system by others.

The forum was concluded with discussions of myths demonizing Islamic financing in the non-Muslim world.
