Bad weather causes dome collapse of ice-skating arena in North Ossetia

Bad weather conditions caused a power cut in the capital of North Ossetia, Vladikavkaz which resulted in the dome of an ice sports arena collapsing when the ventilators holding the roof stopped, Yuga.ru reports.


Heavy snow in Vladikavkaz continued on April 12 and 13.


The dome was covered in too much snow. It broke when people started removing the snow. No one was injured, Mir reports.
The weather has now improved.


Kavkazsky Uzel said that Moscow specialists will arrive today to restore the dome. Restoration of the dome will be decided on by the complex“s staff, local authorities and the Emergencies Ministry.


Heavy snow in North Ossetia caused the radio and television tower of the Alania Channel to bent  on April 13. The Trans-Caucasus Highway connecting South Ossetia and Russia closed.
