Patriarch Kirill conducts Easter Vigil

The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill this morning conducts a final divine service at Christ the Saviour Cathedral at the end of Passion Week, The Voice of Russia reports. On Holy Saturday the Church recalls the descent of Jesus into hell to liberate the righteous souls, and His victory over death.

An hour before midnight, the Patriarch will conduct the principal festive Easter service.

Easter services will be held in all Christian churches - this year Christians of the Eastern and Western rite celebrate Easter on the same day.
