Blast in Volgograd

A blast occurred in the Voroshilovsky District of Volgograd, near the road police building, Interfax reports.


The blast was caused by an unidentified bomb. No one was injured.The police received a message from a woman about a suspicious package near the police building at 05.30 (Moscow time). The bomb went off just before specialists arrived.


A criminal case was initiated into hooliganism and the illegal purchase, storage and transport of explosives.
Other similar explosive devices were found in the city. Two containers of 2 and 3 liters filled with aluminum powder and nails were found near the control post of the Law Academy of the Russian Ministry of the Interior in Volgograd. Two more containers were found near the regional administration and a bus stop in the Dzerzhinsky District of Volgograd.


The police denied the information about bombs at the Law Academy.


The governor of Volgograd Region, Anatoly Brovko, took charge of the investigation. He said that additional security measures had been taken. There have been several unconfirmed reports on other suspicious objects in a car and a bag.
