Georgian Healthcare Ministry presents new program for children

Georgian Healthcare Minister Andria Urushadze presented a new program for child care for 2011-2012, Georgia Online reports.


The program is aimed at closing all major children's homes and finding new parents for orphans, improvement of social support, training social staff, opening 8-10 minor homes, expanding the network of day centers.


Paata Burchuladze, Ambassador of the UN Children's Fund in Georgia, President of the Iavnana Fund, announced the opening of children's homes in regions bordering with the North Caucasus.


He welcomed reformation of the child care system and said that Iavnana is working on returning children to their biological parents.
