4 people were killed and 80 were injured in an earthquake equivalent to 5.7 points in western Turkey on Thursday, RIA Novosti reports.
The earthquake happed at the village of Simav in Kutahya Provicnce. People could feel it in Istanbul. Over 50 earthquakes were registered by Friday 06.00, some with a magnitude of 4.6.
Witnesses say that the quake was strong enough to break house windows.
Simav is suffering a power cut. Some houses have collapsed. Many people have spent the night on the streets. Rescuers said that they are building a tent camp for them. Seismologists say that earthquakes with a magnitude of 4-4.5 will continue.
Earthquakes in Turkey are common. The biggest one was registered in 1999. It had a magnitude of 7.4 and killed over 18,000 people.
