Sochi is marking the 75th anniversary of the birth of the legendary
football player Slava Metreveli. A meeting will be held at the Museum
of Sporting Fame. The son and sister of Metreveli, Sergey and Lilya,
his teammate in the USSR National Team Georgy Sichinav, club member
Georgy Tsirikidze and veterans of Sochi football were invited, Yuga.ru
reports.
The chairman of the Football Federation of Sochi, Vlad Funtyakov, said
that they are holding matches between youth and veteran football
clubs. This year they decided to add a memorial block and gather
people who knew Slava Metreveli.
A stand at the museum was dedicated to Metreveli. His relatives plan
to donate some of his items to the museum.
All guests and participants at the meeting will be presented with
memorial symbols and photographs of Slava Metreveli. The meeting will
be concluded with an excursion at the Museum of Sporting Fame of
Sochi.
