Russian Federal Tourism Agency to investigate poisoning of Russian tourists in Bodrum

The Russian Federal Tourism Agency and the Turkish Tourism Ministry
will discuss the poisoning of Russian tourists with fake alcohol at
the resort of Bodrum, RIA Novosti cites the press-secretary of the
agency Loeg Moseyev.


The Russian diplomatic mission received information on the poisoning
of Russian tourists on May 28. A company in Bodrum organized a
yacht-tour on May 26-27 for about 70 tourists.


The tourists started requesting medical aid on May 28-29. Despite
operative medical support, the condition of seven people worsened.
Maria Shalyapina, born in 1983, died. Six are in a grave condition.
They were taken to the hospitals of Antalya and Denizli.


The deputy head of the Russian Tourism Agency, Yevgeny Pisarevsky,
said that he will take part in the inter-governmental working group.


There were about 70 tourists on the yacht. They were transported by
various tourism companies, including Mostravel. The investigation is
searching for the source of the fake alcohol.
