The Turkish prosecution service has said that the Russian tourists at
the Bodrum yacht club were poisoned on purpose, advisor for culture
and tourism at the Turkish embassy in Moscow Jelyal Kylych said, RIA
Novosti reports.
The tourists were poisoned with alcohol. Maria Shalyapina and Aygul
Zalyayeva died at a hospital in Antalya. Marina Sheveleva died in
Moscow. Alexander Zhuchkov died in a hospital in Turkey's Denizli.
Kylych had a meeting with the acting head of the Russian Tourism
Agency, Alexander Radkov. The Turkish official said that all suspects
are under police monitoring and visit police stations daily.
The Turkish Agriculture Ministry analyzed five drinks served to the
tourists. It said that they were poisoned with the Mister Burdon
whiskey. The whiskey was brought to Turkey by the Jasmine Company
(Northern Cyprus) to Ankara. The alcohol was realized by the Birlik
Gyda Company. About 12,000 bottles were sold in Antalya, Mugla, Mersin
and Ankara. 7,000 bottles were confiscated and 22 people arrested.
