Visit of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II to Georgia starts today

Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II began his first 6-day
Ecumenical and Patriarchal visit to Georgia today.
Catholicos-Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church Ilia II met
Karekin II at the Armenian-Georgian border and together they headed to
Tbilisi, Armenia Today reports.

On the first day of his visit Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II
visited the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Tbilisi.

Ilia II said that the visit of the Catholicos of all Armenians is very
important for the Georgian Church. The Patriarch of Georgia expressed
his hope that this visit will enhance the historical brotherly
relations between Georgians and Armenians.

For his part, Karekin II said that he arrived in Georgia to visit
Georgian and Armenian churches and monasteries, to discuss the future
of bilateral cooperation, overcome existing difficulties and find
answers to questions that remain unresolved between the two churches.
