Authorities do not allow opposition to hold rallies in downtown Baku

The executive power of Baku refused today an appeal of the opposition
Public Chamber (PC) to provide Narimanov Park for a rally on June 19,
RIA Novosti reports, referring to a representative of the PC.

The decision to hold a meeting on June 19 at Narimanov Park by the PC,
which unites a number of political parties and movements, was taken at
a meeting on May 27.

The police of Baku and representatives of the Azerbaijani ruling party
"Yeni Azerbaijan" stated that any attempts to hold an unauthorized
action will be resolutely suppressed.
