An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 occurred in eastern Turkey on
Wednesday, RIA Novosti cites the US Geological Survey as saying.
The center of the earthquake was 40 km south-east of Elyazyg, 10 km
under the surface. There have been no reports on damage and injuries.
One of the largest earthquakes in Turkey took place in the Sea of
Marmara on 17 August 1999. It killed 18,000 people and caused damage
equivalent to $8.5 billion.
