The Catholicos of all Armenians, Karekin II, has arrived in
Saint-Petersburg for the 300th anniversary of the Armenian community
in the city.
Karekin II was welcomed by Bishop Ezras Nersisyan, head of the Russian
Eparchy of the Armenian Apostolic Church, and members of the Armenian
community. The visit started in the Surb Katarine Church of Armenia.
Karekin II visited the National Library of Saltykov-Shedrin. An
exhibition opened with a presentation of the Armenian book
“Armenian-Russian Spiritual Ties”. The Catholicos blessed the
exhibition and everyone present.
He visited the section of ancient manuscripts of the library and
observed Armenian manuscripts.
