Former Chechen Deputy Interior Minister General-Major Vyacheslav
Yefremov and four other citizens have been jailed for 4-6.5 years of
prison for misappropriating 1.5 million euros, RIA Novosti reports.
The four citizens are locals from the Samara Region: Peter Antonov,
Alexander Gorbunov, Sergey Zbaransky and Yaroslav Nesterenko. They
were sentenced by the Samara District Court.
They were acting as counter-espionage service officers and
businessmen. The criminals were obtaining finances from business and
functionaries in Samara in 2005. They offered protection and received
1.5 billion euros in November 2005.
The fraudsters were sentenced for fraud and misappropriation of
finances. They were sentenced to a standard regime penal colony.
