Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has started celebrations of City
Day in the capital of his country, Astana, News Kazakhstan reports.
The ceremony started with the raising of the state flag.
Nazarbayev noted that Astana is a renowned city all over the world. It
launches new facilities every day and is the center of Eurasia.
The ceremony of raising the flag also involved the ceremony of
distributing epaulettes to graduates of military education centers.
Kazakhstan celebrates Capital Day on July 6. Astana citizens have 3 days off.
The day was established on June 18, 2008, on the initiative of the
committee for socio-cultural development. The capital of Kazakhstan is
marking its 13th anniversary this year on July 6, the same day as
President Nursultan Nazarbayev's birthday.
