A special commission has been formed due to the blasts at a warehouse
in Abadan (Turkmenistan), RIA Novosti cites Turkmen Ambassador to
Uzbekistan, Soltan Pirmuhamedov, as saying.
The ambassador said that local residents were evacuated from the area.
Pirmuhamedov denied media reports about blasts at ammo depots. He said
that the explosion happened at a fireworks warehouse.
Abadan is located 20 km west of Ashkhabad. Explosions started at 16.00
on Thursday.
There have been no injuries or severe damage, authorities say.
Western media and human rights activists say that the blast happened
at an ammo depot. They reported about damage at the Gunesh village and
people with burns.
Access to the city was closed.
