Ahmad Vali Karzai, brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, has been killed in his house at Kandagar Province in Afghanistan today. Skynews says that he was killed by his security guard, ITAR-TASS reports.
Ahmad Vali Karzai was the council head of Kandagar Province. He was one of the most rich and authoritative people in the country’s south. He had assassination attempts before.
The Taliban took responsibility for the murder.
Taliban spokesman Yusuf Ahmadi called the murder “great success” since the state forces had started suppressing Taliban supporters.
Sardar Mohammad, a close friend who killed Karzai, shot him at a close range. The terrorist was killed immediately. The Taliban says that Sardar Mohammad was specially recruited for the murder.
Kabul has officially confirmed the death of Ahmad Vali Karzai.
