The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Chechnya has fired four police
officers who were drunk on duty, a spokesman for the ministry told
RIA Novosti on Friday.
A campaign to root out corrupt security officials has been conducted
over the last several days.
The minister said that during inspections about half a dozen policemen
had false identification documents; disciplinary punishments have been
imposed on police officers failing to comply with dress codes, as well
as appropriate behavior in public places, in the office and off-duty.
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that police officers who
drink alcohol should not serve in the ranks of the Interior Ministry.
