Mass fish deaths in Adzharia

Mass fish deaths have been reported in Adzharia. Several hundred kilos of dead fish have been found in the last two days in lakes near Batumi. The reason for their deaths is unknown.

The ministry of environment says the main reason for fish deaths is asphyxia, i.e. reduction of oxygen in water because of heat.
