The festivities in honor of the city of Moscow in 2011 will be held on Sunday and not on Saturday as this day falls on the anniversary of the tragedy in Beslan, RIA Novosti reports, citing its source in the municipality.
Traditionally, the City Day in Moscow is celebrated the first weekend of September, with the major entertainment events held on Saturdays.
On September 3, Moscow will commemorate the victims of the Beslan attack. As a result of a terrorist attack on a school in Beslan, North Ossetia – Alania on 1-3 September 2004, more than 330 people were killed and over 700 people were injured.
