Turkish president makes statement on terror attack

A mine exploded as a military car was passing in the Cukurca district of the city of Hakkari in Turkey today , Sabah reports.

As a result of the incident, 7 servicemen were killed, one of whom was a battalion commander. The number of injured people amounted to 11.
They were taken to nearby hospitals. Investigatory operations are under way at the scene.

According to a preliminary version, the terrorist attack was organized by members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). After the explosion,
the servicemen in the military car were shot.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul made a statement regarding the terrorist attack, stressing that the Turkish authorities will not wait for the end of the month of Ramadan to launch operations to combat terrorism.

"There is nothing stronger than the state. Anyone who thinks that he will be able to get something from the Turkish authorities with explosions, guns and murder is deeply wrong," Gul said.
