The number of terrorist attacks in the North Caucasus increased 1.5-fold in the first hald of 2011, compared with the same period in 2010, Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika said, RIA Novosti reports.
355 cases of terrorism were registered in the first half of 2011. 135 cases were registered in Chechnya. Terrorism augments in Dagestan, Ingushetia and Kabardino-Balkaria.
Regional counter-extremism programs are not fully fulfilled in Volgograd, Astrakhan and Rostov Regions.
The crime level in the Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts dropped by 7% and 10% respectively. But the figures are inexact. 9,500 covered up crimes were registered in the first half of 2011, compared with the same period in 2010.
