A critical state of emergency has been announced in the Mozdok
District of North Ossetia, where heavy rains and winds have caused a
power cut, RIA Novosti cites head of the press-service of the North
Ossetian Emergencies Ministry, Yulia Starchenko, as saying.
Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that Mozdok is located 92 km from
Vladikavkaz, with a population of 40,000.
A critical state of emergency was imposed at 1 pm. Power supplies were
restored for the villages of Troitskaya and Pavlodolskaya. Mozdok is
still without electricity.
A storm warning was given on Sunday evening. Floods broke power
lines. Russia has sent aid to help North Ossetia-Alania.
