Public opinion polls carried out by some Georgian web-sites show that
85% of Georgians are against a military parade on May 26th, Georgian
Independence Day, reports Georgia Segodnya, citing the newspaper
"Vzglyad".
Only 12% of respondents supported this idea. In total 393 people took
part in the polling.
A source in the Defense Ministry of Georgia reported that the exact
number of servicemen and military hardware taking part in the parade
has yet to be determined.
"The Georgian servicemen will be dressed in a new uniform and
demonstrate new equipment", he added.
Opposition leaders said they wouldn't allow the parade to happen.
"The country experienced hard times in the war of 2008 and lost two
territories. They definitely have nothing to celebrate", noted the
opposition leaders.
