Ramazan Abdulatipov replies to accusations

Head of the Moscow University for Culture and Art, Ramazan Abdulatipov, called the message with accusations of formation of an armed group "a bandit's anonymous letter".

A letter was written to President Dmitry Medvedev by students and teachers of the university and posted on the Internet. The students asked the president to prevent "Muslimization" of the university and turning it into a "Dagestani community". Some experts believed that the letter was purposefully written by nationalists.

Abdulatipov said that it is an attempt to discriminate him as a candidate for membership in the United Russia Party.

Ramazan Abdulatipov was the Minister for National Policy of Russia in the late 1990s. He was supervising relations in the North Caucasus. In the early 2000s he represented the Saratov Region in the Federation Council. He headed the Russian diplomatic mission to Tajikistan until 2009.
